The Strategic Development Plan (SDP) for the Mid Wales Corporate Joint Committee is a comprehensive framework designed to guide sustainable growth across the region which includes Ceredigion County Council (CCC), Powys County Council (PCC) and Bannau Brycheniog National Park (BBNPA).
The plan will focus on issues that cross Local Planning Authority boundaries and will look at how people in the region go about their day-to-day lives, from working and commuting patterns to shopping and leisure activities. It will identify the strategic locations and places for future growth and change.
By fostering collaboration among local authorities, businesses, and stakeholders, the SDP aims to create balanced and inclusive development that reflects the diverse aspirations of the population.
It adopts a midpoint between the National Plan and Local Development Plans (LDPs) and will provide a strategic context for the preparation of subsequent LDPs. It aligns with national priorities and statutory duties set by Welsh Government Ministers, ensuring that regional planning is strategic and effective.
The development of an SDP gives the Mid Wales CJC the opportunity to better plan and deliver regionally important, strategic growth in a coordinated, cross-border manner, aligned with the Regional Transport Plan.
